National Grid Providence:
The LNG tank at the National Grid facility in Providence was in need of a new coating system. Past attempts, by others, at touchup had resulted in coating failure on the dome. The coating mil dry film thickness (DFT) varied greatly from the bottom side wall to the top and there was a concern about future maintenance as the mils reach excessive thickness.
The John W. Egan Company was awarded the contract to prepare, abrade and recoat the tank. The coating system used was selected because it would chalk over time thus minimizing the amount of additional mil build up.
