The “Rainbow Swash” by Corita Kent is the largest piece of Copyrighted Artwork in the world.
In February of 2015 the John W Egan Company was awarded the SSPC - William Johnson Award for the re-coating of this Boston landmark. The William Johnson Award is given for outstanding achievement demonstrating aesthetic merit in industrial coatings.
National Grid hired the John W Egan Company to re-coat the tank in the summer of 2014. The project took eight men 3 months to complete.
The Tank was washed, abraded then received a full coat of epoxy following by urethane and finally an additional clear coated of urethane in ensure the colors would have extended life. Each color on each coat was cut in by hand in order to maintain the original artwork.
